Karen Bagnard is an artist of Danish descent
who works from a studio in her home nestled in the foothills of the San
Gabriel mountains. Her drawing table faces a North window where she can
be seen working in the wee hours of dawn when the world is most peacefully
conducive to creative work. She believes in the healing powers of creative
The daughter of two artists, she was always encouraged to develop her
natural talents. She studied art at Pasadena City College, but considers
herself to be largely self-taught. The artist uses watercolors and color
inks to create her original work. The reproduction used in producing
the various products are then embellished with dimensional accents of
color and light.
Karen developed her unique line of cards in 1988, began selling them locally
in 1989 and today they are sold nationally and in England. Her frameable
art cards have become collectibles.
